The force operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs and is structured into various specialized units, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Traffic Police, and Marine Police, among others. The Tanzania Police Force is led by a Commissioner General, who oversees the entire organization’s operations. They work in collaboration with regional and district police commanders to address local issues effectively. The force plays a crucial role in safeguarding the country’s stability and peace, particularly in areas dealing with organized crime, drug trafficking, and wildlife poaching. It also contributes to maintaining security during elections and other major events.
